The 3 Min Challenge

In the small town of Grand Falls-Windsor there are just four sets of five sets of traffic lights. And strangely enough, it was one of those days where it seemed like no matter what I did, I landed on a red light.

You know how it goes. The longest 3 minutes of your life. You're already running a few minutes late to the office, or, the kids are kicking up a fuss in the backseat and, if you're like me, you feel like staring down the red will somehow make it change faster....and it never does.

After several "tests of patience" today, I finally took a deep breath, cleared my head and just sat and enjoyed the red light delay. I was surprised at how many thoughts could filter through my mind (including a topic for this blog) when I wasn't white knuckling the steering wheel.

So how about this....the next time you happen upon the dreaded red, just be thankful for a moment of stillness and remember the words of Isaiah 26:3, "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you"
